The Dominican government has rounded up more than 700 Haitians immigrants and deporting them on a daily basis.
According to reports, Dominican officials said the crackdown is necessary to the growing illegal immigration since the earthquake and to prevent the spread of cholera, which has killed more than 3,000 people in Haiti since the outbreak began in October.
About 150 have been sickened in the Dominican Republic.'
Immigration agents and soldiers have been stopping and questioning those in buses and vans that each day carry people. They are required to have the proper paperwork, if not they are loaded up on buses and taken back to the border.
The immigration to Dominican Republic has gotten out of control in where there is an an estimated 600,000 to 1,000,000 Haitians living illegally in the Dominican, which is a significant burden on a country with a population of 10 million.
Should Dominicans have the right to deport Haitians, regardless of the circumstances in their homeland?
